Professional Sports Sponsorship

The National Council for the Prevention of Impaired Driving (NCPID) and the SafeRide America (SRA) program wishes to propose a partnership between the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL Players Associations.

Each Association will pledge to adopt a policy that states that no player shall ever drive any vehicle after the consumption of alcohol.

NCPID, through the SafeRide America program, will provide the players with the necessary tools to accomplish this commitment to personal safety and responsibility.

The partnership will give each team access to 3 pro-active non-profit services.

  • SafeRide Service- One-way service for players and their cars using a team of two drivers
  • SafeChauffeur Service- Rent a single driver by the hour
  • SafeParty Service- Rent teams of drivers to be on-call at private parties hosted by players where alcohol will be served

A teams acceptance and use of the services will protect them from impaired driving arrests, crashes and from the liability of serving alcohol to guests. Players will have 24-7 access to all services by phone and thorough our online reservation system that is desktop and PDA friendly. Our drivers are professional and well screened.

We are prepared today to do a pilot program with Atlanta being our test market. Our goal with this program is to

  • Provided the Atlanta players and visiting players with the necessary tools to never have to drive impaired
  • Enable the players a way to set an example to their fans on how to act responsibly
  • Generate positive media coverage
  • Create public awareness about the dangers of impaired driving
  • Offer advance reservation SafeRide Service to fans attending games
  • Get help expanding our non-profit public services to the communities in each major league city
